Calcutta Connect believes every child and young person has a right to education, regardless of background. Each child should be allowed to reach their full potential. Those from marginalised communities face even greater challenges in completing their education. Common reasons for dropping out include family pressure to earn money, early marriage, poor quality schools, and lack of educational value. We work to break the cycle of poverty by supporting our local partner in providing quality preschool education and ongoing monitoring and tuition to older students.
The Impact of Education
Poverty Reduction
Lack of access to education is considered the root of poverty. Not getting an education can lead to a cycle of poverty. Accessing education can end this cycle.
Reduce Early Marriage
Child marriage is an issue faced in marginalised communities. Each year of secondary education greatly reduces the likelihood of marrying as a child.
Empowering Women
Educating girls has a multi-generational impact. The children of women who have finished school are much more likely to complete their education.
Higher Incomes
An educated person has a better chance of getting a higher paying job. Higher education allows people to specialise in certain fields, opening up earning opportunities.
How We Support Education
We work in partnership with local organisations to support education projects in marginalised communities. We work towards alleviating poverty by supporting education of children and young people from underprivileged backgrounds. Our mission is to create sustainable change through Education, Vocational Training and Community Development. Empowering children and young adults to secure a better future for themselves and their families.
